You'll also receive plenty of mentoring and support in this position, so don't worry if you feel you may not have extensive previous experience in a similar role!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The role<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h4>Responsibilities<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-weight: normal;\">Oversee, approve and monitor strategic vision and direction<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\"><\/span>Evaluate the performance of the Managing Director (MD) annually<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\"><\/span>Monitor the integrity of financial systems and reporting of the organisation<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\"><\/span>Oversee risk management and legal compliance of the organisation<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\"><\/span>Provide strategic advice and direction to the MD<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\"><\/span>Provide high level strategic and financial advice aligned with individual experience and professional background<\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\"><\/span>Be an advocate for the organisation and promote its mission and values to communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Selection criteria<\/h4>\n<p>Applicants will be considered on the following criteria:<\/p>\n<h3>Essential:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An understanding of and adherence to best practice governance standards;<\/li>\n<li>The ability to form a working relationship with the Board members and CEO;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Targeted skills and experience:<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019d love to see candidates with some of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lived experience of intersectionality, for example, (noting that this list is not comprehensive) two or more of the following characteristics: Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, person of colour, LGBTIQA+, person from a culturally and\/or linguistically diverse background, disabled person, neurodiverse person, identifies as a woman.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with campaigning or advocacy, especially in areas of social justice;<\/li>\n<li>Start-up\/NFP, social enterprise business development skills and experience;<\/li>\n<li>Experience in content development and online learning platforms;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of impact and outcome evaluations, quality management systems\/frameworks, preferably with experience in implementation;<\/li>\n<li>IT and digital transformation;<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of government, crowdfunding and philanthropic funding processes;<\/li>\n<li>Legal expertise and understanding of organisational structures;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Familiarity with consensus as a decision-making model<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Highly regarded:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Prior Board governance experience;<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to mentor less-experienced Board members<\/li>\n<li>Strategic planning experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Application
